DevOps Engineer
About the job
We are looking for a DevOps Engineer to take over our infrastructure and ensure the stability, scalability and performance of the platform. We operate a monolithic Ruby on Rails application backed by MySQL, which handles hundreds of thousands of transactions per day.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys solving infrastructure challenges, has deep experience with MySQL performance and scaling, and wants to play a key role in helping the company evolve towards a more robust architecture.
We’re looking for someone who can take full ownership of our infrastructure and proactively suggest improvements. You will work closely with the engineering team to ensure everything runs smoothly and can grow at the pace the company requires.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
Identifying and resolving performance bottlenecks in both application and infrastructure.
Maintaining and evolving the infrastructure that supports our Rails application.
Managing, scaling, and optimizing our MySQL databases.
Analyzing and improving database queries, indexing strategies, and schema design.
Designing and maintaining infrastructure as code.
Implementing high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
Classifying alerts and implementing incident response procedures.
Ensuring effective monitoring and alerting systems are in place.
Supporting and improving CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows.
Promoting a culture of reliability, security, and continuous improvement.
You’ll be the main point of contact for infrastructure decisions, working closely with our backend engineers.
Job requirements
Preferred Qualifications
Infrastructure & Automation
Hands-on experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred).
Solid understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools.
Proficient in implementing monitoring solutions for application and infrastructure health.
Experience designing and improving log strategies, ensuring they are actionable, structured, and easy to analyze.
Experience in high availability environments, including replication, load balancers, and monitoring.
Experience designing and implementing Disaster Recovery Plans.
Database & Performance
Solid experience with MySQL maintenance and scaling, with a strong focus on performance and stability.
Proven ability to analyze and optimize SQL queries, index usage, and table structures.
Nice to Have
Experience configuring and maintaining Ruby on Rails applications from a DevOps perspective.
Experience working with cloud platforms like AWS or GCP.
Knowledge of security best practices in cloud environments.
Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
Strong scripting skills.
