Senior Web Designer
⚠️ Note: Although this is a remote position, we are currently only seeking candidates in time zones between UTC-3 and UTC+2, essentially between Buenos Aires and Istanbul.
As Senior Web Designer at Quaderno, you'll be responsible for creating new graphical interfaces and assets for our website and products. You will be involved in the entire product design cycle, including definition, implementation and maintenance of new and existing elements. Your work will have a direct impact on the quality and user satisfaction. You will create the components needed to extend, update and improve our design system.
You will work closely with our marketing and development teams to ensure communication actions, brand consistency and create a great user experience. Ultimately, you will be the driving force behind all design activities.
Quaderno (now part of the Visma group) is a global, fully remote company and we believe that our way of working, independent of borders and time zones, is the future.
We want to build a work environment where people are happy, productive, and interact well.
We’re quite transparent internally. This helps everyone to be part of this journey and make better decisions.
We believe in diversity and we are committed to create a home for everyone, no matter your gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, education, age, or other personal characteristics.
We like to work hard, but we also believe in balance. That’s why we only work 5 really focused hours per day, ensuring everyone has plenty of time to exercise and enjoy life. No toxic meetings, no endless phone calls, no bullshit. Just focused work. The rest of the day is dedicated to family, friends, pets, and hobbies (you know, the important stuff).
Being part of Quaderno means that you’ll become part of a culture that’s based on excelling in our craft while also maintaining a healthy work-life balance. You’ll join a multicultural development team that’s passionate about dealing with large datasets, complex tax rules, and helping thousands of businesses around the world.
You feel that our values resonate with yours, and you see how they can act as guidance for your day-to-day work.
You have 5+ years of web design experience.
You have experience in building complex design systems.
You have solid knowledge of web and interaction design.
You have good knowledge of front-end technologies like HTML, CSS and, ideally, also JavaScript.
You promote the use of solutions based on web standards (W3C) and accessibility criteria (WCAG, etc).
You have experience in measuring, analysing and fixing design problems.
You're able to communicate and defend your design decisions.
You are able to work autonomously, maintain a self-motivated and proactive attitude to propose improvements. Previous experience working in a remote team is a bonus.
You have extensive experience working with Figma (Photoshop and Illustrator are a plus).
You are fluent in written and spoken English.
We’re bootstrapped, profitable, and committed to building a sustainable company that will continue to grow for decades to come. That means we value work-life balance and invest in our employees' long-term growth.
We offer:
Work from anywhere in the world in a UTC-3 and UTC+2 time zone as a contractor.
Design your own schedule. Work no more than 25 hours/week.
Competitive pay based on your skills and location.
Paid vacation + national holidays.
2 annual company retreats.
A passionate and caring team.
1. Application
If this role speaks to you, we’d love to hear from you! Please send this application with your resume and portfolio. If you can send us a link to some Figma files that you're proud of, that would be great!
2. Take-home assignment
We'll send a task related to the role for you to complete. You should expect to spend half a day (but no more) completing this test. Please consider whether you'd be willing to set aside time for that before applying.
3. Online interview
After the written test, the top candidates will proceed to an interview. Our interviews are one hour, all remote, with your future colleagues, on your schedule. We’ll talk through some of your solutions and some of ours, your approach to work, and dive into your design knowledge.
4. Offer
If everything went well, congratulations! We'll extend you an offer. We aim to make an offer as soon as possible with a start date in January 2025.
We’re accepting applications until Sunday, December 1 at 23:59:59 UTC. There’s no benefit to filing early. Keep it sharp, short, and get across what matters to you.
We expect to take one week to review all applications. You’ll hear from us by Monday, December 9.
Throughout the process, we will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have, whether it be about the company, the role, the culture, or your future colleagues.
We know this is a lot of work and there’s a lot on the line. It’s a significant career move to consider. We appreciate the generosity and courage that go into giving us that consideration. We look forward to hearing from you.
